Scholedge Books, An Imprint of Scholedge Publishing

Two Ways to Publish.
One Editorial Standard.

We publish scholarly books two ways. Open Access, where the ebook is free for anyone in the world to read and the author pays a publishing fee. And Traditional, where there is no publishing fee and the author earns royalties as the book sells. Same peer review. Same editorial bar. You choose the route that fits your book.

Our Publishing Philosophy

Not Every Book
Wants the Same Route

Some authors write to put knowledge in front of as many readers as possible, with no paywall in the way. Others are writing a book they want to sell, and want to earn from it as it sells. We don't think either goal should be turned away, so we publish both ways.

Under Open Access, the author or editor pays a publishing fee, and in exchange the ebook is hosted freely for any reader anywhere in the world. No royalties apply, since there's no sale to share. Under Traditional publishing, there is no fee to the author at all. The book is sold as an ebook and in print, and the author is paid royalties on those sales. Every manuscript, on either route, goes through the same peer review and editorial process.

On choosing a route: The route you pick has nothing to do with how your manuscript is reviewed. It's a question of what you want for the book: wide free readership, or a sales-based income from it. We're happy to talk through which fits better before you commit to either.
OA
Open Access Publishing
A publishing fee is paid by the author or editor, discussed and agreed before publication. The ebook is then free for any reader to access. No royalties apply.
TP
Traditional Publishing
No publishing fee is charged to the author. The book is sold as an ebook and in print, and the author earns royalties on every sale.
Print
Purchasable print editions
Print copies are available to purchase under either route, for readers who want a physical book in hand.
The Publishing Process

From Manuscript to
Published Book

1
Enquiry & Submission
Tell us about your manuscript and which route interests you: Open Access or Traditional. We review the scope, subject, and fit, and talk through which route suits the book.
2
Peer Review
Your manuscript goes through the same rigorous peer review on either route, to meet the scholarly standards required by academic indexing services.
3
Editing & Design
Standard editing and cover design are carried out by our editorial and design team, as part of the publishing process on both routes.
4
Production & Formatting
Your book is formatted for digital and print. Open Access titles are prepared for free hosting; Traditional titles are prepared for sale and distribution.
5
Publication & Distribution
Your book goes live, free to read under Open Access, or on sale with royalties tracked under Traditional. Print becomes available to purchase either way, and distribution begins.
What's Common to Both Routes

What Every Author
Gets, Either Way

Standard Manuscript Editing

Ebook Publication
Your ebook is published either as open access, free for any reader, or as a retail title sold to readers under the Traditional route.
Print Edition Setup
Your print book is produced and made available for purchase on either route. Authors may also order their own copies at cost price.
Metadata, Indexing & Peer Review
Full bibliographic metadata preparation, basic indexing, peer review coordination, and author certificate on publication.
Choose Your Route

Free to Read, or
Paid to Sell. You Decide.

Open Access and Traditional are two complete publishing routes, not a base plan with upsells. There are no paid add-ons under either one. What differs between them is the fee, the royalty, and how the ebook reaches readers.

Global Reach

Your Book, Where
Researchers Look

Open Access titles from Scholedge Publishing are distributed across major academic platforms and open repositories. Traditional titles are sold through retail and academic channels. Print editions are available for purchase through retail channels globally, on either route.

Publication Ethics

Our Commitment to
Ethical Publishing

These standards apply to every book we publish. They are not aspirational statements. They are operating requirements for every manuscript we accept and every publication we release.

📋
Editorial Independence

All publication decisions are made on scholarly merit alone. Choosing Open Access or Traditional carries no weight in the editorial decision and does not guarantee acceptance.

🔍
Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to Scholedge Publishing undergo rigorous peer review. We coordinate with qualified reviewers appropriate to the subject area of the manuscript.

✍️
Authorship & Originality

Authors confirm that the submitted work is original, not previously published in substantially the same form, and not under simultaneous consideration elsewhere.

🚫
Plagiarism & Misconduct

All manuscripts are screened for originality. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and duplicate publication are grounds for rejection or, post-publication, retraction.

⚖️
Conflicts of Interest

Authors disclose any relationships that could appear to influence the research. Reviewers and editors with conflicts of interest recuse themselves from the relevant manuscript.

♻️
Corrections & Retractions

Post-publication errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Retractions are handled according to established best practices in scholarly publishing.

🔒
Research Ethics & Consent

Research involving human subjects must confirm that ethical approval was obtained and that informed consent was secured where required by the applicable framework.

🌍
Licensing & Copyright

Ebooks published under Open Access carry a Creative Commons licence, with terms stated clearly on the publication. Traditional titles are published under standard copyright. Authors retain copyright either way.

Tell Us About Your Book

Every publishing relationship begins with a conversation. Fill in the form below and let us know if you're leaning toward Open Access or Traditional, or if you'd like our recommendation. There is no cost to enquire and no commitment at this stage. We respond within 2–3 working days.

Both routes go through the same peer review and editorial standards.
Open Access: a publishing fee applies, discussed personally. Your ebook then reaches readers worldwide at no cost to them.
Traditional: no publishing fee, and you earn royalties as the book sells.
There are no paid add-ons under either route, and your choice of route has no bearing on how your manuscript is reviewed.
